Alain Delon lived regally and shone on the screen for more than 50 years. He acted in 90 films. Most of them went on to garner appreciation from the people and the Press. For, instance, The Leopard attracted 134 million footfalls. He was a star all right.But as we are now seeing, Delon is spending his last days in abject misery. He is 88 and severely disabled by a stroke, and his three children do not care. 

As much as the title In The Belly Of A Tiger may sound dramatic, there is nothing of this in the feature film, which premiered at the 74 Berlinale the other day. An Indo-US-Chinese co-production helmed by Siddartha Jatla (The Artist), the feature revisits a very old problem in India: farmer suicides. A decade ago, this made screaming headlines in the media that probed why they were resorting to this extreme step. 

Actor Vijay Sethupathi has many avatars. But none which even faintly resembles that of a hero – in the sense of the term we identify with those playing leads. Minus the dashing good looks which have become a necessity to be a hero in Indian cinema, he has come a long, long way, and is now one who is known and recognised for his brilliant acting style.
